Independent Spirit Award-winner tells MTV News ending awards season with her co-stars is 'so bittersweet.'

"The Descendants" took home a handful of awards from the Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday afternoon, but none of the winners were more enthused about the honor than first-time nominee Shailene Woodley. The "Secret Life of the American Teenager" star has been rewarded repeatedly for her emotional turn as the teenage daughter of George Clooney's character in the Alexander Payne-directed flick, and the 20-year-old continued that trend Saturday, winning Best Supporting Actress.
Sunday night's Academy Awards marks the last major awards show of the season for Woodley and her "Descendants" castmates. On the red carpet before the Spirit Awards, the young actress told MTV News that ending her time with her co-stars is "so bittersweet."
"Tomorrow's the grand finale. It's awesome, because I'll be able to have clean socks and do laundry for the first time in a few months, but it is sad because every single night has been this beautiful little reunion of people, and tomorrow's the last reunion," she explained.
At least the reunions will go out with a bang, since the entire cast, including Clooney, is expected to attend the Oscars. Even though they won't continue to see each other on the awards circuit this year, Woodley expects she and her castmates will stay in touch.
If Clooney falls out of contact, Woodley promised, "I will track him down and say, 'Keep teaching me, because I haven't learned enough yet!' "
The actress has made quite a splash on the red carpet while doing rounds for "The Descendants," and she said her Oscar-night dress is ready to go. Picking out the perfect outfit hasn't been something to stress about — as she said, that's what stylists are for.
"I do have a dress. It hasn't been that big of a process because I know nothing about fashion," Woodley said. "I have an awesome stylist who does know a lot about fashion, and so I'm sure she would say it's been a big process, but for me, it's been very simple."

"Reviving" the housing market presumes there's something to revive. That is, the presumption is that the "slump" in home prices and demand is something that is unnatural and can thus be reverted to a "mean" that is actually positive.

Look folks, I know that people don't want to hear it, but the fact is that real purchasing power of the American worker has been in decline for more than a decade. Nominal wages have declined since 2000 and with inflation purchasing power has been in the toilet. The so-called "2% inflation target" is a rude scam over decade-long periods (not to mention longer periods of time)?and must be eliminated in favor of actual stable prices.
Greenspan, Bush and The Fed generally all tried to evade recognition of the Internet Bubble's "valuation blow-off" with more cheap credit, which fueled the housing bubble and led to a consumption blow-off with borrowed home equity "money."?
But that value never existed although the debt created sure did, and as a result we dug an even-bigger and deeper hole.
It is time to "eat our peas", despite the fact that we won't like it.? RICHMOND, Va. (AP) ? A winter storm that dumped several inches of snow across parts of the South, causing power outages, slippery roads and numerous accidents during the Presidents Day holiday weekend, moved out to sea Monday.
Crews were working to restore power to tens of thousands of households that lost electricity as a result of the storm.
The storm brought as much as 9 inches of snow to some areas on Sunday as it powered its way from Kentucky and Tennessee to West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina. The storm system was expected to push off the coast early Monday, with the nation's capital getting only snow flurries, according to the National Weather Service.
The storm hit toward the end of what has been an otherwise mild winter in the region.
In northern Tennessee, about 20 vehicles were involved in crashes along a three-mile stretch of Interstate 75 near the Kentucky border on Sunday afternoon.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Sgt. Stacy Heatherly said the crashes were reported shortly before 2 p.m. in near "white-out" conditions caused by heavy snowfall and fog. Police said a youth was seriously injured. All lanes of Interstate 75 had reopened by early evening.
Dozens of wrecks were also reported in North Carolina as snow, sleet and rain fell with little accumulation, according to The Winston-Salem Journal.
In Virginia, the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 were shut down following a two-vehicle crash that critically injured one man, The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported. The accident was reported at about 6:20 p.m. on I-95 near the interchange with Interstate 295 in Prince George County. The male driver of one vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries, and an adult male passenger in the same vehicle also was hospitalized.
Snow began sticking in the Richmond area after dark, and Virginia State Police had responded to about 700 crashes as of 10 p.m.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reported that only an inch or two of snow had fallen north of Interstate 85 in North Carolina, though more was expected close to the Virginia line.
The weather service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Raleigh-Durham area until 9 a.m. Monday. Officials were advising motorists to use caution when driving in the morning, as some return to work and others travel on Presidents Day.
Wet snow also downed power lines. Appalachian Power was reporting that 52,000 customers were without power Sunday night in central and southern Virginia, as well as in West Virginia. Dominion Energy was reporting another 16,000 outages, mostly in the Richmond, Va., area and Shenandoah Valley. Kentucky Power said 23,000 households were without power Sunday night.
Nick Fillo, a meteorologist in the National Weather Service's Blacksburg, Va., office, said 5 to 8 inches of snow fell in the Blue Ridge Mountains, while about 3 to 6 inches fell on that state's Piedmont region.
"This was our first real winter storm," Fillo said.

I think God, husband, children, home and church is a biblical approach to prioritising who comes first in your life. He may even become bothered with feelings of guilt because he has jealous feelings towards his own children.
The whole business of child raising, marriage and homemaking is a balancing act which requires wisdom and prayer- and organization. I do feel too that sometimes children today are made a little too much of and I fear that we will reap the consequences of this in our own lives and in the next generation of adults. Balance is the key, I feel.
The wise woman will build her house by building up her husband, building her children up enough to make them confident adults but never to become the masters of the home. This is tearing your house down with your own hands. Build your home by seeking God?s divine order- Him, husband, children, house then church. By doing this, you will have a happy home and family and will be serving God as He purposes it. And you will reap the reward of a happy enduring marriage and well adjusted children.

CLEVELAND (AP) ? The parents of an 8-year-old boy who died from Hodgkin lymphoma after suffering for months from undiagnosed swollen glands were sentenced to eight years in prison Thursday following their guilty pleas to denying him medical treatment.
Attorneys for Monica Hussing, 37, and William Robinson Sr., 40, had said the parents had financial problems and tried to get checkups for their son but couldn't afford it.
The couple was given the maximum sentence by county Judge Michael Astrab, who accepted their guilty pleas last month to attempted involuntary manslaughter in a last-minute plea deal before their trial was about to begin. They were handcuffed and taken into custody immediately. Both plan to appeal the sentence.
"I loved my son," Robinson told the judge, occasionally wiping his eyes with a tissue. He said he was sorry.
"I tried to help my son," Hussing said as family members in the courtroom quietly sobbed.
Hussing's sister, Shelia Slawinski, cried as she stood before the judge and gave voice to her nephew, Willie Robinson: "I am so in pain ... please take me to the doctor ... the last four weeks have been the most painful."
"I told my sister," Slawinski said. "I offered to help my sister."
According to the prosecution's pre-sentencing memo to the judge, at least eight family members noticed Willie's deteriorating health over a period of more than two years and most spoke to the couple about it. One relative described the boy's swollen neck glands as the size of a softball.
"Twenty-nine months he suffered," Slawinski said. "Twenty-nine months they had to do something and they chose not to."
Asked outside court why her sister hadn't taken care of Willie and hadn't enrolled him or three siblings in school, Slawinski said it was easier for Hussing to stay in bed during the day and do drugs. Both parents have abused drugs, their attorneys earlier told the judge.
Hussing's oldest daughter, Lillian, 18, defended her mother in court and said Willie was able to do the same things other 8-year-olds do. "He was able to play, go outside," she said.
The judge looked surprised and asked the teen if she would be willing to repeat her statements under oath and possible penalty of perjury. She did.
The judge compared the autopsy photo of Willie's emaciated body to concentration camp victims. "If anybody, anybody, didn't know this kid was sick, they are seriously, seriously disturbed," Astrab said.
Two doctors told the judge before the sentencing that no sick child would be turned away from a hospital.
Willie Robinson collapsed at his home on March 22, 2008. Prosecutors say he had begged his parents to take him to see a doctor but was rejected. Hodgkin lymphoma is a highly treatable cancer.
Lillian Hussing said earlier the family didn't have money for medical care when they lived in Warren, tried repeatedly to get help from social services and visited a free clinic but left when told they would have to pay $180.
The family soon moved to Cleveland and the boy died within weeks.
Prosecutors say that while the boy was suffering, the parents claimed financial hardship but paid $87 to have a pit bull treated for fleas. Hussing's defense attorney, John Luskin, said the dog belonged to Hussing's parents and her parents paid for the treatment.
Trumbull County Children Services says it had worked with the family to provide Willie health care, getting involved after receiving a phone call in July 2007. Agency officials said a case worker visited the family at least monthly and pushed the parents to have a medical follow-up on his swollen neck but they didn't.
However, Robinson's attorney Thomas Rein said previously that a social worker who visited the family in January 2008 "indicated the kids were healthy and happy." He said no one knew the boy had cancer until he died and an autopsy was performed.
And Lillian Hussing said a case worker had told the family the boy's lump looked like a swollen gland and to hold off until they could secure financial assistance before getting it checked.
About two weeks after they moved to Cleveland, she said, her brother came down with something. Her mother treated him with cold medicine and he died within three days.
She said the boy never complained about his neck.
"He played, he went outside, he wrestled, he played video games," the boy's sister said. "He was the happiest kid you could imagine. It never seemed like he was suffering."
The emotional aftermath from their son's death led the couple to split, according to Luskin.
The couple's four other children under 18 were placed in the custody of a family member. Luskin said Lillian Hussing, upon turning 18, decided to return to live with her mother.
Rein said Robinson agreed to plead guilty so his children could be spared any further grief and wouldn't have to suffer by testifying. Lillian Hussing said her mother took a plea bargain because of the uncertainty of a trial and fear she could be sent to prison for a long time.
The coroner ruled that the boy was a victim of medical neglect and died from pneumonia due to Hodgkin lymphoma.

"We did have very tightly controlled access and ensured there was no disturbance to the elk or bison," he said.
The movie is a remake of a spaghetti western about a slave who becomes a bounty hunter, with Jamie Foxx in the title role. Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson also have roles in the movie, which is mostly being filmed in New Orleans.
Other Wyoming scenes were shot at the Bar BC Ranch and Kelly Warm Springs in Grand Teton National Park.
The production company spent more than $500,000 in Wyoming, which qualifies it to receive a 15 percent rebate, said Michelle Howard of the Wyoming Film Office.
