Going away somewhere nice with the kids is something I love doing. We try to go on holiday somewhere different at least twice a year, while we like to have a few days out during the summer when the weather?s nice. I love doing it, but something my partner and I are worried about is how much it costs to go on a family vacation.
If, for example, we?re all going on a flight to Europe, we have to pay for a large hotel room that accommodates everyone, return flights and, while we?re there, consider spending money on food, activities and souvenirs to take home with us. All that can add up to one hefty bill, but after working out the total cost of a week-long stay on the continent, I decided to look at paying less for breaks.
Morning glory
Not long after I decided to try and find a way of paying less for a family holiday in Europe, I found one possible solution to my problem on the kitchen table! On some cereal boxes, I found some money-off coupons for holidays abroad, and thought that they would come in handy one day.
On the subject of coupons, I did a little online search for cheap holidays and found some useful websites. I would recommend the travel section of netvouchercodes.co.uk to anyone wanting to find a list of cheap deals and money-off vouchers for flights, accommodation and whole packages. I?ve used this site time and time again to try and find cheap deals and usually get what I look for!
Book in advance
At the height of summer, flights tend to be more expensive. If you leave it late or can?t book at any other time of year, you might feel that you either have to cough up or give it a miss. I know I?ve been there before! Thankfully, something I learned a while ago after my epiphany was that I could save on the cost of flying if I booked in advance.
Booking early can help you avoid the mad rush for tickets as well as save a few pounds here and there. In isolated cases, booking flights at the last minute could prove useful too in reducing the cost of your family vacation, but you have to be really eagle-eyed to do this effectively. Booking early is more likely to help you save though.
