RITUAL ARTS TATTOO & BODY PIERCING
Call to Queer Visual Artists:

The purposes of rituals vary; recognizing obligations or ideals, creating or maintaining discipline, satisfaction of spiritual or emotional needs of the practitioners, strengthening or releasing aspects?of character, creating social bonds, social and moral education, demonstration of respect or submission, stating one?s affiliation, celebrating transitions, connecting to a higher power or more deeply to the self, transcending limitations, obtaining social acceptance or approval or, sometimes, just for the pleasure of the ritual itself. Ritual, above all else, is intentional as distinct from habit. We are calling for artwork that relates to ritual, either in concept or construction.

Paintings, Prints, Drawings, Mixed media works, and Sculpture. Flat works should be 3?x3? and 25 lbs. maximum, framed, with hanging wire. Sculptures should be appropriate for display on a pedestal surface of 11?x11? and 50 lbs. maximum. All work should be tagged with the Artist?s name, title, media and contact email address. Artists are welcome to sell their work, with an awareness that the studio keeps 10% of sales.

Entries will be accepted at: Ritual Arts Tattoo and Body Piercing at 2005 NE 42nd Ave., Portland, OR, 97213 from 12:00PM-6:00PM April 24th-29th and May 1st. The studio has a limited amount of space, early entries will be given preference.

There will be an opening reception and festivities on May 6th from 6pm-10pm. We will be featuring a Fliptography booth, Vegan sweets and treats, door prizes, music and more. The exhibition will be publicized. The show will run from May 6th- June 30th

Entries should be retrieved by: July 1st at 8:00PM
